High River is a town in Southwestern Alberta, Canada with a population of nearly 11,000, nestled in the Foothills of Kananaskis Country just 20 minutes south of the city of Calgary on Highway 2. The community gets its name from the Highwood River, which flows through part of the town. Known for its natural beauty, there is an abundance of trees and green spaces.

High River celebrated its Centennial in 2005. Its roots were established in 1862 with the construction of Fort Spitzee near the 'Medicine Tree' and the rest is History. Its rich heritage is reflected in historical murals and buildings, and landmarks such as George Lane Park, the Museum of the Highwood, Sheppard Family Park, Bar U Ranch and others. High River is also home to Frank Lake Conservation Area, the Greidanus Honey Mill, Saskatoon Berry Farm, Windmill Theatre Players, and its very own Airport.

High River is a popular filming site for television shows such as the Nickelodeon series Caitlin's Way and movies including Superman I, II and III, Unforgiven, A Friend of the Family, Lies My Father Told Me, Child of Mine, Goldenrod, Dead Bang, Little House on the Prairie, The Ron Clark Story, Brokeback Mountain, The Assassination of Jesse James and several others.

Residents of High River enjoy activities such as curling, golfing, bowling, skating, swimming, walking and biking along Happy Trails Pathway, day camps, and other community programs, to name a few. Each year, High River hosts the Little Britches Rodeo & Parade, the Guy Weadick Week and North American Chuckwagon Races, the High River Highland Games, the 'Arts Alive' Art Show, the Santa Claus Parade, the Trade Fair, the High River Farmers' Market, the High River and District Lions Music Festival, the River City Classics Car Club Show & Shine and the RC Jet Rally. There really is something for everyone in this friendly town whose residents are proud to call 'home'!
